From the early days of childhood dance lessons to the present moment, my relationship with movement has been a profound exploration of joy and self-discovery. After graduating university with a first class honours degree in Contemporary dance and awarded The Deans prize for excellence, I always believed I would pursue my passion for movement through dance. However, as I grew and experienced more and more I realised the desire to perform had faded and for me it was more about movement as a feeling and a creative art form.
I found myself on a mission for a fulfilling path which led me to enrol to study a Mat Pilates diploma. Fast forward a year I was relocating to Australia to travel and experience life, I immersed myself in the study of Pilates, completed my training and landed my first Pilates job teaching in a corporate office in Sydney. In that moment, I felt a resounding affirmation—I had discovered my calling. I realised my true passion lay in creating a space for everyone to move, where I could encourage and listen, offering movement that is undeniably good for you.
Sydney, with its radiant sunshine and beaches, became a big inspiration for what was to come. Returning to rainy Manchester, I was determined to carry this radiant energy with me. Enter SOMA, a reflection of my love for sunshine, movement, and the eternal beach enthusiast within me.
I have now been teaching Pilates for five years and have expanded my expertise with additional trainings, including Reformer Pilates. My dream is to continue to learn so I can nurture, inspire, and educate through movement, bringing you back to your body, your home.
As the founder of SOMA, my goal is simple—to provide efficient, well-structured Pilates classes with a light, soft, and sunshine-infused edge. Join me on this journey, and let's move, thrive, and bask in the sunshine together.
With love, Hannah
